Calero is a personal relationship and context tool for Apple platforms. This page summarises common questions about regulation, employment, and organisational rules. It is not legal advice—consult your counsel or compliance team for your situation.
GDPR and UK GDPR
Where EU or UK law applies, Calero’s operator describes processing in the Privacy Policy. In short:
- Core app data is stored on your devices (and optionally in iCloud via CloudKit under your Apple ID), not on a separate “Calero CRM” web database for routine use.
- You choose exports, imports, and device backups.
- Website interactions (e.g. feature request form) are described separately in the Privacy Policy.
For data subject requests directed at the app operator, use the contact in the Privacy Policy. For data on your device, you control deletion, export, and backup strategy.
Corporate governance and employer policies
If you use Calero for work, your employment agreement, confidentiality obligations, and employer IT / data policies still apply. Many organisations specify where contact data, candidates, or client information may live (e.g. approved CRMs only). You are responsible for using Calero in line with those rules.
Calero does not replace an approved enterprise CRM, ATS, or data warehouse. It is not a substitute for contractual or regulatory record-keeping your employer requires elsewhere.
“Shadow CRM” concerns
Some teams worry about individuals maintaining parallel contact databases outside approved systems. Calero does not encourage circumventing policy: it is a personal productivity product, analogous to structured notes or a personal address book with richer context.
- If your organisation prohibits storing certain data outside official systems, do not put that data in Calero.
- If you need audit trails or central visibility that only an enterprise system provides, rely on that system for compliance-sensitive workflows.
Exports and handover
You can export data (e.g. JSON, depending on app version) from Calero when you need a portable copy or to move information into another system you are allowed to use. Exports should be stored and shared under the same rules as any sensitive professional file.
Subscriptions and Family Sharing
Subscription sharing is governed by Apple and Family Sharing eligibility. Sharing a subscription does not create a shared family database in Calero—it shares access to the app’s paid features per Apple’s rules. See the FAQ for a short summary.
